The Diocese covers a large geographical area, taking in Counties Cavan, Longford, Leitrim, most of County Roscommon and much of County Sligo in the Republic and some parishes in County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland.
Mothers' Union has 415 members in 19 branches across the Diocese. Whilst membership in some of our branches is quite small, we must never forget that we are part of a worldwide Christian organisation with over 3 million members throughout the world, and that we are united with them in prayer and worship. We share the same Aims and Objectives as we work to support marriage and Christian family life, and to help those who have not been so fortunate in life.
Our overseas Diocesan link is with Kajiado in Kenya and we have regular communication with members there and support them through prayer. We are linked here in Ireland to the Diocese of Cork, Cloyne and Ross and enjoy regular exchange visits with members there.
Thank you for visiting our website. We hope you find it interesting and informative - please read on to find out more about what we get up to here in Kilmore, Elphin and Ardagh and perhaps you will want to join in what we do.
THEME FOR 2015
"When a believing person prays, great things happen.” James 5:16
To ponder on:
God does not want us to do extraordinary things; He wants us to do the ordinary things extraordinarily well. (Charles Hope)
A life devoted to things is a dead life, a stump; a God-shaped life is a flourishing tree. Proverbs 11:28
Almighty Lord, we thank you that we can
dwell in your presence through the love of Christ.
Speak to us, Lord, as we draw near to you.
Still our restless thoughts and calm our active minds.
Quieten our spirits to hear your gentle voice.
Open our ears to listen well;
open our hearts to sense your will.
Give us your grace to heed your words
and follow where you lead.
Speak to us, Lord, for your servants are listening.

Prayer for the people of Vanuatu, following Cyclone Pam
Lord God of the living and the dead,
we ask for your strength and hope in this time of suffering; we ask for your love to comfort those who have lost their families, homes and future livelihoods in Vanuatu.
We cannot make sense of this tragedy or its scale of devastation, but we know that you do not abandon us in our hour of need.
To you Lord of the living and the dead do we turn, you are our only strength and hope in this time of suffering.
